The Curtain

I cannot shut them up.

I cannot disinvite.

How do I marshal

My plot along

Lest they sabotage in spite?

If I were Pirandello,

They’d take my stage away.

I am not.

Stubbornly,

I retain the final say.

Can I ever complete,

Stop endless insertin’?

Call a halt to rewrite,

Stage the sucker,

Lower safely the curtain.

I choose the ending.

I call the curtain.

But I do not trust them,

These actors off script

In this play uncertain.
